Gear Checklist - Everything you need for a great day on the mountain

Heading to the snow for the first time? Don't worry - we've got you covered. Here's a handy checklist of the essentials to help you stay warm, dry and comfortable while skiing or snowboarding.

Ski or Snowboard Jacket (Available to Hire)

A warm, waterproof or water-resistant jacket is essential for staying comfortable on the slopes. If you don't have one, you can hire a quality snow jacket from us.

Ski or Snowboard Pants (Available to Hire)

Wear waterproof ski or snowboard pants, bibs or a one-piece snow suit to keep you warm and dry throughout the day. Snow pants are available to hire if you need them.

Base Layers

Start with thermal base layers to keep warm while allowing your body to breathe. Merino wool or similar fabrics work best. On colder days, add a mid-layer such as a fleece or lightweight insulated jacket for extra warmth.

Gloves or Mitts

Warm, waterproof gloves or mitts are a must. Mitts are often the warmest option, especially if you tend to feel the cold. We stock a great range of gloves and mitts in-store.

Glove Liners

On particularly cold days, a pair of merino glove liners can provide extra warmth. They're also great for walking around the village or heading out for dinner.

Snow Boots (Available to Hire)

A pair of waterproof boots with good grip will keep your feet warm and make walking through snow and ice much easier. Snow boots are available to hire.

Goggles

Protecting your eyes is important. Sunglasses are fine for walking around the village or on calm, sunny days, but goggles are essential when skiing or snowboarding, especially in windy or snowy conditions.

Helmet (Highly Recommended)

We strongly recommend wearing a helmet whenever you're skiing or snowboarding. Most people on the mountain wear one, and helmets are available to hire.

Face Protection

A neck warmer or balaclava will help protect your face from wind, snow and cold temperatures. If you're bringing your own balaclava, make sure it's thin enough to fit comfortably under your helmet. We also have a range available to purchase in-store.

Sunscreen & Lip Balm

The sun is surprisingly strong in the mountains, even on cloudy days. Apply sunscreen before heading out and keep a lip balm handy to protect against sun and wind.

Camera

Don't forget your camera or phone - you'll want to capture the incredible scenery and unforgettable moments on the mountain!
